REDCo, Paso del Norte Group To Merge
Initiative Will Begin New Regional Economic Development Partnership
EL PASO, TX – (May 10, 2012) – El Paso’s Regional Economic Development Corporation (REDCo) and the Paso del Norte Group (PdN Group), a regional policy and planning group made up of business leaders from El Paso, Las Cruces, NM, and Cd. Juarez, MX, will join together as the initial nucleus of what will evolve into a new Regional Economic Development Partnership. The governing boards of both organizations have approved the merger and consolidation.
El Pasoans may be asked to vote for a $655 million to $835 million bond issue that could include a new multipurpose arena and stadiums for major league soccer and Triple-A baseball teams, as well as parks, pools and community centers and the reconstruction of streets.
Paso del Norte Group Members - - As you are no doubt aware, many military retirees have chosen El Paso as their retirement destination - - even though it has received little or no recognition in national publications. Therefore, the Paso del Norte Group’s Retirement Committee members believe that, with proper publicity and recognition, the positive economic impact of more military retirees choosing El Paso can be substantial.

LAS CRUCES - New Mexico State University President Barbara Couture, University of Texas at El Paso President Diana Natalicio and Britt Porter of the Paso del Norte Group will announce details of the first Re-Energize the Americas conference in a news conference at 10 a.m. Thursday at UTEP's College of Engineering.

Starting on October 26, Re-Energize the Americas plans to showcase the Paso del Norte Region tremendous strengths and help regional renewable energy businesses, organizations and networks access additional capital opportunities including joint-ventures and partnerships.
Exhibits will feature regional businesses employing the latest advances in clean technologies and consumption-reducing strategies. Examples include solar, wind, bio-diesel, landfill gas, water reuse, and municipal solid waste technologies.
In 2011, the RTA will be held in collaboration with the Border Energy Forum.
