• To help to establish new emerging artists’ venues for all artistic expressions, in downtown El Paso and Juarez and to support and enhance present (arts and culture) organizations and programs.
• Work to have arts and culture play a larger and increasingly important role for the community and in making this region attractive to tourists, retirees and businesses considering relocation.
• Attract and support a growing “creative class” from the United States and Mexico, increasing the percentage of El Paso’s population in the “creative class”.
• Enhance the cultural identity of El Paso, Juarez and Las Cruces as the Paso del Norte region. 
• Develop the economic potential of arts and culture with major events that are distinctive and representative of the region’s culture.

Goals

2009 – 2010 goals In the coming year, through the 2010 Annual Meeting, this Committee will pursue the following goals:

• Fund raise for Arts & Culture with the idea that monies come from outside El Paso and Juarez, by creating festivals, web based stores, etc.
• Plan for at least one major event that will draw attendees from a wide geographical area.
• Formulate a sustainable and recuring event such as a Latino Music Festival that will draw national attendees.
• Others, as formulated by the newly constituted Task Force.
